It was many years ago in the land of Judah
A census had the people moving all around
So Joseph came from Galilee;
with Mary his young wife to be
To Bethlehem his ancestral town
Now she was great with Child and time came for the birth
After she'd arrived in the land of Joseph's kin
She wrapped her firstborn Son in strips of cloth
And in a manger he was placed for there was no room in the inn
Some shepherds were out in a field nearby
Keeping watch over their flocks at night
When an angel of the Lord appears
To these men who are filled with fears
In the presence of God's glorious light
And the angel said to them do not be afraid
I bring to you good news of great joy
A Savior has been born to you
and this will be a sign for you
Messiah in a manger, a cloth wrapped little boy
Suddenly
a great company
of the heavenly host
Appeared with the angel praising God, and saying;
"Glory to God in the highest
and on earth, peace, good will towards men."
