:::Short story - Part 1:::
The rope bit into his wrists, the cord stained crimson with his blood. How long had he been like this? He couldn't remember.
Eyes partially open, they quickly closed again as the streaming sunlight caught them, chasing away the peaceful darkness. Slowly his dark orbs opened once more, his surrounds swimming into focus. The streaming sunlight was now broken by the green leaves of the massive oak, it's trunk rough with age and broken bark.
Head tilted back, looking towards the massive canopy, it became obvious how much his body hurt as the pain began to come into focus. Dark stringy hair fell back, revealing his chiseled features, cheekbones high upon his slender face. The pale skin beneath the stubble on his chin was all that revealed his true skin colour, the rest was covered in the dried blood of another, this he knew. He wished that he could remember what had happened, what he had done.
Parched and cracked lips parted to expel his anguish but no more then a squeak echoed forth revealing the dryness in his throat. He was sure now that it had been a few days since he last drank and that he needed to find water rehydrate himself.
Slowly pushing himself up with his bound hands he found that his body still contained some strength though it was waning. As his dark eyes looked down to the earth beneath him he discovered his state of undress, only the falling leaves having given him some decency. Suddenly his eyes took on a new shine as he looked closer at the greenery upon him, it was new and the leaves young and tender, as if they had been placed there. Quickly his head flicked up, hair falling across his cheeks, framing his features, hiding his pointed ears. Blinking rapidly to produce moisture upon his eyes, his head turned, to the left and right, searching for his captor, or was it his savior! They found none but a small brown sack resting against the trunk where he had rested.
